Graphic Designer - Licensing

The Orb Factory is a locally owned design company whose toys are played with around the world! We are seeking a graphic designer with an active imagination and a passion for the toy industry to join our team. Not your average graphic design job; we supply a creative and engaging work environment where learning and team work is key. You will be expected to contribute to the team by thinking outside the box and paying attention to current toy and children’s craft trends.

Our open position is on our licensing team working primarily on our Disney licensed product line for International markets. 

Job Description:

Graphic Design for packaging, product components and sales collateral including catalogs, displays and presentations

Compile and organize digital assets

Product concept development and proof-of-concept prototyping

Utilize Licensor style guides and apply them to a variety of product formats

Prepare final artwork for print production

Track and balance material usage on product development projects

Provide product specifications to our Hong Kong based sourcing team and compile costing information for each project

Edit product concepts as necessary to meet budget goals

Keep project tracking information up to date and meet set project timelines


Fluent in Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign, Excel

A post-secondary graphic design degree

Prior experience working with licensors is beneficial

Accounts Payable

The Orb Factory Limited, a locally owned and operated toy company, is currently seeking an Accounts Payable professional.

As the successful candidate, your responsibilities will include, but not be limited to:

1.  Accounts Payable & Inventory Data Entry (75%)

  • Timely and accurate entry of all factory invoices
  • Accounts payable data entry including credit card transactions
  • Inventory reporting
  • Management of Accounts Payable per available cash flow and vendor terms, prepare wire payments
  • Review date entry of all purchase orders
  • Ensure accounting software matches physical inventory counts
  • Review analysis of components inventory
  • Process employee expense reports and commissions payable

2. General Ledger Reconciliation (25%)

  • Review Inter-company transactions
  • Reconcile A/P subledger into general ledger monthly
  • Monthly depreciation entry
  • Monthly HST reporting
  • Prepaid expenses reconciliation

The ideal candidate will possess:

  • Post-secondary education at either a College or University level
  • Accounts payable experience preferred
  • Experience in private industry and/or in the manufacturing sector
  • Experience with ERP accounting software and Mac products
  • Proficient with Excel
  • Detail oriented with excellent organizational skills

International Sales Position

The Orb Factory Limited is a locally owned and operated toy company in Halifax, NS. We design and distribute award-winning creative art kits and other educational toys.  With sales in over 50 countries, we are looking for International Sales Account Support to help support & develop our international markets.

 Your responsibilities will include but will not be limited to: 

-       Inventory tracking

-       Sales and general market analysis

-       Document preparation

-       Trade shows and meeting support

-       Support to senior sales positions

The ideal candidate would have a post-secondary education, an interest in sales and marketing, and strong Excel skills in a Mac environment. You are a motivated and enthusiastic individual who has excellent communication skills, works well within a team environment, and also enjoys having your own areas of responsibility. Multi-lingual applicants with a valid drivers license are preferred. International business/life experience is not required, but would be an asset.

Supply Chain Manager 

The Orb Factory Limited, a locally owned and operated toy company in Halifax, NS, that designs and distributes creative art kits in over 50 countries, is looking for a Supply Chain Manager in a permanent position, reporting to the Director of Engineering and Supply Chain.

Primary responsibilities include, but are not limited to: 

-       Manage activities related to strategic purchasing, materials requirements, forecasting, planning, inventory control, warehousing and deliverables 

-       Maintain alignment between sales requirements, factory capacity and warehouse capacity 

-       Collaborate with other departments to develop strategies to minimize any risk that may interfere with the supply chain

-       Design and maximize ocean container shipments 

-       Assist in balancing inventory between warehouses

-       Assess appropriate warehouse requirements, including use of space and materials handling equipment

-       Ensure best warehouse practices are being implemented 

-       Develop strategies to minimize component inventories

-       Ensure unused component and raw materials inventories are properly re-tasked, re-used, or re-cycled to minimize financial and physical waste

-       Document all processes, such as workflows, lead times, position responsibilities, etc.

-       Diagram supply chain models to facilitate discussions with staff and customers

-       Develop procedures for coordination of supply chain management with other functional areas such as sales, marketing, finance, production and quality assurance.

-       Participate in coordination of engineering changes, product line extensions, or new product launches to ensure orderly and timely production flow

-       Analyze inventories to determine how to increase inventory turns, reduce waste, and optimize customer service

-       Analyze information about performance from all parts of supply chain; provide advice on strategies for improvement

-       Define performance metrics for measurement, comparison or evaluation of supply chain, such as product cost and quantity

-       Participate in defining performance metrics for measurement of your own performance

-       Implement supply chain strategies that support environmental policies and best industry practices

-       A general understanding of shipping methods, terms and associated fees structures

-       Communicating with transportation suppliers on rate negotiation and ensuring excellent customer service with distribution to our customers as well as our ocean transportation

-       Communicating with customs officials at US ports as well as the US / Canada borders

Education & Experience:

-       Bachelor's degree required; Supply Chain, Business, or Technical field preferred

-       Three plus years of Supply Chain Management experience in toy/gift industry preferred

-       Must be adept at using Microsoft Excel

-       Understands the basic principles and operations of ERP systems. Experience with NetSuite would be an asset

-       Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously with strong results/goal orientation

-       Proven capability in identifying and analyzing information to make decisions and solve problems
